what to expect?
Join Guest Artist Marie for a hands-on 3-hour pottery class where we’ll explore the basics of handbuilding with clay, with a special focus on creating texture and experimenting with sgraffito decoration.
During the class, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own ceramic pieces using simple handbuilding techniques. We’ll explore how to shape and build with clay by hand, while learning how to create interesting surfaces, patterns, and textures using different tools and techniques.
We’ll then dive into sgraffito, a decorative technique where we layer underglaze onto the clay and scratch through the surface to reveal the colour underneath. You’ll learn how to draw, carve, and create your own patterns and designs, making each piece personal and unique.
Throughout the workshop, I’ll guide you step by step and offer individual support, whether you’re completely new to pottery or already have some experience.
