build a teapot
Join us for a two-day handbuilding workshop where you’ll create your very own ceramic teapot.
what to expect?
Over the two sessions, you’ll learn with guest artist Catherine how to build the different parts of a teapot by hand: from the body and lid to the spout and handle. Most importantly, we will bring them all together into one functional piece. Catherine will guide you through the process and share tips for getting the proportions right, making a lid that fits, and creating a spout that actually pours.
There will be plenty of room to experiment with shape, texture, and small details, so you can give your teapot its own character.
Once your teapot has been fired, you’ll be invited to come back and glaze it.
No previous pottery experience is necessary. Just bring your ideas and a little patience.
Course will be held in English.

The two day workshop (2x3 hours) plus a separate glazing session costs 150€.
Clay, glazes, firing costs for one teapot, and other materials are included.

During this two day workshop, you will learn how to handbuild a teapot. The first day will be about forming your pot, handle and spout. On our second day we will assamble the teapot and work on the surface texture.
At an additional session (around two weeks after the first), you’ll return to glaze your pieces and add the final touch of color to your creations.

The courses are suitable for all levels.

We work in small groups of up to six people, allowing for individual guidance and support.
about Catherine
“I am a Canadian neuroscientist who use ceramic to recenter, relax and get creative. I learned ceramics at 15 years old and since never stopped. I travel the world to learn different techniques with local artists to improve my art but also to share my knowledge. From Tunisia to Turkey and Japan, techniques differed but the passion is the same.”
